Ready to try RSS?

Step 2. Import the Starter Kit Feeds

To get you started using GreatNews, the RSS-Starter-Kit.opml file has 26 pre-configured feeds. Right-click on the file; save it to your Desktop (be sure to change the Save as type: option to All files so it won't be saved with a .txt extension); then open GreatNews.

In GreatNews, click on Tools in the Menu bar, then Import Channels from OPML/XML file....

A small window will appear. Select the second option Import channels/groups from file and the blank field will be active where you can specify the location of the OPML file. To make things easier, click on the button (...) beside this field and you can navigate to the file's location.

Now navigate to your Desktop where you saved the RSS-Starter-Kit.opml file. Select the file and click on Open. Click on Next when you return to the previous window.

You will be presented with the channels that will be imported from the OPML file. You can deselect feeds that you do not wish to import. Click on the Update channels from internet during import box to quickly get the latest messages from these feeds. Click on Next when you are done.

GreatNews is now ready to start importing. Hit Next to begin the process.

GreatNews will display a progress window of the feeds that are being imported. After a few seconds, you will see a also summary of the process. You can now click on Finish to complete this task.

Once you have imported the file, you are ready to read the feeds and experience the benefits of RSS!
