As you expand over time with a DeltaV system, you can operate PROVOX and the DeltaV system from the same workstation. Migration services are also available to help you move your PROVUE and OWP displays to DeltaV displays.
DeltaV Operate for RS3. Using DeltaV Operate for RS3, you can operate your RS3 controllers from a DeltaV workstation. As you expand over time with DeltaV equipment, you can operate both RS3 and the DeltaV controllers from the same workstation. Migration services are also available to move your RS3 displays to DeltaV displays. DeltaV Operate for RS3, along with DeltaV Operate for PROVOX, protect your current controller investment while providing integrated operations with the DeltaV equipment as you expand.
DeltaV Interface to RS3 I/O. Now you can easily connect RS3 FlexTerm and MultiPoint I/O to the DeltaV controller. This is a smart way to protect your RS3 I/O investment while incorporating the latest digital technologies found in the DeltaV controller.
DeltaV Interface for PROVOX I/O. Now you can easily connect PROVOX Mux and Control I/O to the DeltaV controller, protecting your PROVOX I/O investment while taking advantage of the latest DeltaV digital technologies.
Fault Tolerant Application Station. You can increase your applications' availability and process uptime by using the Stratus ft3200 fault tolerant server. Stratus ft3200 replaces Marathon servers and can be used to run all the applications supported on an Application Station.
Bulk Edit Enhancements. For fast engineering and project data population of your control strategy development, DeltaV v7 adds Bulk Edit support for DeviceNet cards and devices; process cells; unit modules, unit parameters, and aliases.
Faster Animation Creation. In DeltaV Operate, the basic animation dialog makes adding animations to shapes, text, and other objects easier and quicker than ever.
Drag/Drop Import/Export. Supports dragging an item from DeltaV Explorer and dropping the item onto an application (for example Windows Explorer, MS Excel, MS Outlook, Notepad, Desktop, MS Word). This action causes the item to be exported to the application for opening or attached within the application. Dragging an FHX file to the highest level of the tree in DeltaV Explorer will cause the file to be imported.
Linked Composites Tracking. This enhancement provides control over how linked composite parameter values track their default values from the library template. A checkbox on the parameter properties dialog determines whether the parameter value is linked to the library template value.
New AGA and ISO Calculations. In addition to the new water and steam properties blocks, we've added AGA and ISO gas flow calculations to the DeltaV system. These blocks are designed to calculate the flow of natural gas through orifice and turbine meters; they can also be used for other gases and liquids (virtually any single-phase, Newtonian fluid under turbulent flow). The blocks include:
- Mass flow calculation for orifice metering per AGA3/1995 and ISO5167/1998
- Use limits for orifice metering per AGA3/1995
- Density and compressibility factors calculation per AGA8/1994 (detail characterization method)
- Turbine metering calculations per AGA7/1996
- Gas heating value calculation per ISO6976/1999 (real gas superior calorific value using 15/15 data).
Time Functions and Date Time Event Function Block. Two new structured text functions support reading the date and time from the clock in the controller, giving you a method for generating a pulse at a preset date and time.
Module classes. With DeltaV v7, you can build module class definitions for frequently used control and equipment modules, reducing your engineering efforts. All the modules used in a system configuration will inherit subsequent changes made to that definition.
Lock and Protect. You can now protect your strategies and intellectual property. This new engineering software capability allows your designers to develop configuration structures that can be viewed but not edited, or can remain both hidden and not editable without password access. This allows engineers additional project development security by protecting key control strategies from alteration. It also lets designers secure any intellectual property in custom control strategies by keeping configuration details hidden.
Lock and Protect supports the following library categories:
- Composite templates
- Module templates
- Control module classes
- Equipment module classes
- Phase classes
- Unit classes.
Windows XP and Windows Server 2003. The DeltaV software maintains its technology leadership, moving to the robust, intuitive Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 operating systems.
Remote Terminal Server. DeltaV Remote Terminal Server extends system accessibility via remote engineering and remote plant operations. You can connect to the DeltaV system from any location on the plant LAN or from other remote locations outside the plant using standard communications including: satellite links, microwave, VPN, LAN, WAN, and dialup modem connections.
Plantwide Event Historian. Capture and display real-time event data for all systems in the plant with OPC Alarms and Events-compliant servers. The Plantwide Event Historian provides support for operation on any hardware platform running Windows Server 2003 located anywhere on the control network or plant LAN. The individual components of the Plantwide Event Historian may be installed together on a single node, or they may be distributed among many nodes.
On-line Upgrades. You can upgrade to DeltaV v7.3 online from the following DeltaV revisions:
- Version 5.3.x
- Version 6.3.x
- Version 7.x.
PredictPro. PredictPro provides full-scale model predictive control for the most complex control problems. It is ideal for supervisory or regulatory control situations where multiple interactive variables can be difficult to manage. Advanced modeling, constraint and disturbance handling, and automated identification coupled with embedded LP optimization, provide unprecedented ease of use without sacrificing control performance.
SimulatePro. To better train your operators, DeltaV SimulatePro now offers these enhancements:
- Save and Restore capability. Now you can take a snapshot of your system, save, and fully restore it quickly and easily. The snapshot is saved in a file. You can then browse to the saved versions and restore them as needed to save your entire system in seconds.
- Fieldbus support. Engineering checkout and operator training is easy now that you can fully test fieldbus configuration to run in the Simulate environment. The new Simulate conversion feature converts fieldbus device modules to the DeltaV equivalents.
DeltaV Inspect. Inspect helps you resolve abnormal conditions by integrating process performance with device diagnostics. It tracks device faults that have occurred, over the last day or over the last week. Inspect also provides the ability to launch AMS in context to perform a detailed diagnosis of the device.
MD Controller 750DST Availability. The DST availability on MD controllers is now increased from 500 to 750 DSTs. This increased DST count is available with DeltaV v6.3.2 and later.
Controller Restart. You can now define which module parameters should be saved to non-volatile memory in the controller. These parameter values are restored when the controller reboots.
Intrinsically Safe Analog Output with HART. Now you can take advantage of HART analog outputs for your intrinsically safe applications.
Isolated RTD/Thermocouple. Designed for noisy applications, the new isolated RTD/thermocouple offers 500V AC channel-to-channel isolation. This 4-channel card functions as RTD or thermocouple on a per-channel basis.
16-Channel AI card. For most cost-effective installations, this new card offers increased density of analog input channels. You can connect HART devices to the card and use AMS HART for predictive maintenance and to prevent abnormal situations.
Batch Operator Prompt Control. Operators can now display and respond to prompts generated by the DeltaV Batch Executive from within a DeltaV Operate graphic.
Confirmation and Verification. You now have the option to require that the confirmer and verifier of a batch action be different individuals as part of your regulatory compliance efforts.
Unit Aliasing. You can now require that two or more steps within a procedure use the same piece of equipment. Unit Aliasing supports dynamic unit selection during run time.
Recipe Exchange. Recipe Exchange delivers an open, programmatic interface to the DeltaV recipe management system, giving you an easy way to author recipes outside the DeltaV system. Based on an open, interoperable, XML schema, the Recipe Exchange interface lets you import and export DeltaV recipes.
All recipe levels are supported, including procedures, unit procedures, operations, and formulas. You can assign recipes and initiate the download to one or more batch executives.
Recipe Authorization. For your electronic signature regulatory requirements (like those specified in the FDA's 21 CFR Part 11), recipe authorization grants from one to five user approvals before a recipe can be released to production for use. The recipe authorization is tightly integrated with the Configuration Audit Trail and Version Management to track recipe changes, approvals, and comments. Using recipe authorization, unapproved recipes cannot be downloaded.
Dynamic Unit Selection. For flexible equipment selection at recipe run-time, DeltaV Batch now supports dynamic unit selection. Operators simply receive prompts to select the equipment at the time it is needed by the recipe.
Multiple Batch Executives. To improve system availability for ongoing operations, maintenance, and upgrades, batch resources may be allocated among up to four Batch Executives in a DeltaV system. For example, if a manufacturing facility has two production trains, each train can be assigned to a different Batch Executive, giving you the flexibility and security to divide your process units into logical areas. And to take advantage of multiple Batch Executives, you can also have multiple Campaign Managers and Batch Historians.
H1 Firmware. You can maintain high system availability by upgrading the firmware in H1 fieldbus devices over the H1 fieldbus segments. You do not need to disconnect or remove the device from the live segment to upgrade the firmware. All the other devices in the segment are not affected by the upgrade.
PlantWeb Alerts for Plant Assets. You can now prevent abnormal situations by using PlantWeb Alerts from your mechanical and process equipment, real-time optimizers and other plant assets. PlantWeb Alerts have been extended and now can be generated by vibration, infrared thermography, oil analysis, thermodynamic models and other diagnostic techniques. You can receive "failed", "maintenance", or "advisory" alerts for your plant assets just like from Emerson's fieldbus devices. The AMS™ Suite of applications, including the AMS Machinery Manager, AMS Performance Monitor and AMS Optimizer software monitor motors, pumps, heat exchangers, boilers and other plant equipment to detect alert conditions. When an alert is detected, the AMS Suite software notifies the DeltaV system so that operators can take action to prevent downtime or process upsets. PlantWeb Alerts can be viewed on:
- Operator Interface
- Maintenance Station
- Event Chronicle
- Plantwide Event Historian
- PlantWeb Messenger
- DeltaV Inspect.
Timestamping in FOUNDATION fieldbus devices. For more precise device maintenance alarms, the DeltaV Series 2 H1 card with DeltaV v7 software provides device-level time stamping for maintenance alarms. These cards also synchronize the time in the associated fieldbus devices.
Tuning in FOUNDATION fieldbus devices. The DeltaV Tune application can now be used to tune PID blocks executing in FOUNDATION fieldbus devices. DeltaV Tune can tune PIDs in Emerson devices as well as third-party devices.
AMSinside DeltaV to PROVOX and RS3 I/O. AMSinside the DeltaV system can now recognize HART devices connected to PROVOX and RS3 I/O when connected through either the DeltaV Interface for PROVOX I/O or DeltaV Interface for RS3 I/O. From the DeltaV Explorer, a simple right click on the HART device icon will launch AMSinside for HART in context, with that device selected.
