Hunt Wesson in Oakdale, CA has four boilers with DeltaV.
Boiler capacities are 60, 75, 150, and 150 Kpph producing
saturated steam at 150 psig. One is a gas-fired, forced draft
unit with a Todd VariFlame Low-NOx burner. The second is a
gas-fired, balanced draft unit with a twin-pack Todd RMB (Rapid
Mix Burner) ultra-low NOx burner set. The third boiler is
a B&W FM gas-fired unit with a large single Todd RMB.
In June the fourth unit will be started. This is a B&W
FM gas-fired unit with a Coen QLN Burner.
An application station is used for a modified Alternative
Emission Monitoring System to meet the new Subchapter Db for
continuous reporting in seasonally-operated units on the Coen
unit. It also provides steam reports through Wonderware interface
as a feedforward to steam header pressure controls.
The controls were engineered, implemented, and installed
by APC-Rust of Pleasanton, CA.
Each boiler has a simplex DeltaV controller. The operator
interface is through two workstations. Calculations use an
Application Station.
