This system controls three (3) gas-fired package boilers
rated for 175 kpph saturated steam (each) at 450 psig. They
are equipped with Todd RMBs.
The Todd RMB burner is a new type developed by Radian in
which we have participated in all of their Beta tests. It
is the ultra-low NOx unit designed to fire at no more than
10 PPM NOx, at 0 CO, across the entire load range of the burner.
It incorporates extremely high throat velocities in both the
primary and secondary plenums, and has a stabilization problem
with both high and low O2 levels. Thus, cross-limits create
a problem. We are incorporating a new strategy (somewhat radical)
developed in conjunction with Steve Bortz of Radian, the burner's
designer.
The controls were engineered, implemented, and installed
by APC-Rust of Pleasanton, CA.
Each boiler has a simplex DeltaV controller. The operator
interface is through two workstations.
